MSP430: Speed of the MSP430 ADC12 module

Problem:
How fast and slow can the ADC12 operate?

Solution:
The conversion rate for the ADC12 is a function of the ADC12CLK
and the clocks required for conversion. The approximate min. and
max. ADC12CLK are 500kHz and 6.5MHZ respectively. The fastest
complete conversion can be completed in 17 cycles (13 for the
conversion, 4 for the sample and hold). 6.5MHz/17 = 382ksps. The
ADC12 can run no slower than min. ADC12CLK, but the sample gate
can be left open infinitely under software control. Please see
the datasheet for more details on sampling and conversion time
specifications.
